Let it Snow!

I wanted to share this card I made.  I got the skates stamp on clearance at Hobby Lobby a while back and was excited to finally use it.

I stamped the skates on white paper and colored the boot with brown crayon (it's what I had) and the blades with grey crayon.  I was after an antique skate look which I think I achieved after I sponged the edge of the skates with Early Espresso ink.

I used Cherry Cobbler baker's twine to give the illusion of the skates hanging.

I think it turned out so cute!

Santa's Workshop...

It's only the middle of October but for anyone who makes Christmas gifts, it's time to open the workshop and get moving.

I've started on gift tags already and am loving the finished product as well as the process of making and designing them.  And being as frugal as I am, I find this to be a great way to use up all those little scraps of paper I've been keeping.

I'll be starting on my cards this weekend while LM is camping.  And wouldn't it be fabulous if I could finish them as well?

A few more shots of what I've been working on:

What are you making for Christmas this year?

Thankful Thoughts...

I'm joining the Paper Players again this week for Jaydee's Color Challenge . I'll admit this really was a challenge for me.  I am not a fan of burgundy and don't use it much. I found a piece of it to work into the card but I'm thinking it might actually be Rich Razzleberry - I hope it's close enough since I'm just using it as an accent.

I love the rich colors for fall so I decided to make a Thanksgiving card.  After much thought and changing things around, this is what I came up with:

I was happy to be able to use the linen thread on this card.  It compliments the colors nicely, I think.

I stamped with Creamy Creamy caramel and I think that worked nicely.

Cup of Joy Challenge...

The Paper Players Challenge this week is called 'Cup of Joy'.  Cute, right?  I am a huge fan of tea cups so I was thrilled to see this challenge.  As I was looking through my supplies I realized I had a lot of cup cake items and a little light bulb went off in my head: how about not taking the challenge so literally and make a cup cake card?  And off I went.

Here's what I came up with:

I love the combination of brown, green and pink.

I used some glitter paper for the flame of the candle & I love the way it turned out.  The cupcake is a Stampin' Up punch and one of my favorites. Other things I used:

Paper: All scraps from my supply
Ink: Stampin' Up Early Espresso
Happy Birthday Stamp: Party this Way set by Stampin' Up
Baker's Twine: Stampin' Up
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby

Joyeux Noel...

October 1st means it's time to start thinking about Christmas, right?  Well, maybe not for the average person but for the crafter/cardmaker we need to get moving.  This week's Paper Players challenge was the perfect way to motivate me to start my Christmas cards.

Here's my Joyeux Noel card.  I love how it turned out!  I got the cute Eiffel Tower stamp at Michaels last year and I was excited to finally get around to using it.

For the Paper Players Tic Tac Toe challenge I went with a tic tac toe across the top:

  • Christmas - The Eiffel Tower stamp
  • Sparkle/Bling - I used gold Stickles for the holly berries.
  • Ribbon- The green Stampin' Up ribbon finished off this card in the most perfect way.

The card ideas for this challenge are endless.  I can't wait to create some more.  Head over to The Paper Players and see what the other talented cardmakers are up to.

Brown & Grey Birthday...

I am taking part in the Paper Players Challenge this week.  I needed to make a birthday card for my grandfather so I figure I am killing two birds with one stone!  Plus, I'm always up for new card ideas so all my cards don't look the same.

I actually love the grey and brown together.  It's funny what you find out looks pretty good when you play around with colors and patterns.
